Data Deletion Policy

1. Introduction

BrightBarnacle Studio ("we," "our," or "us") respects your right to control your personal information.

This Data Deletion Policy explains how Barnacle Bucks users may request deletion of their information, what information is deleted, and what information may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

2. Deleting Your Account

Parents may delete their Barnacle Bucks account at any time using the account management features provided within the application or by contacting BrightBarnacle Studio.

Deleting a parent account will permanently remove the associated family account and its data, subject to the retention practices described in this policy.

3. Information That Is Deleted

When an account is deleted, Barnacle Bucks will permanently delete or anonymize information associated with the family account, including, where applicable:

  • Parent profile information

  • Child profiles

  • Family information

  • Assigned chores

  • Chore history

  • Screen time balances

  • Screen time history

  • Chore verification photos

  • Push notification registrations

  • Account preferences

Deletion may occur immediately or within a reasonable processing period.

4. Information That May Be Retained

Certain information may be retained when necessary to:

  • Comply with legal obligations

  • Resolve disputes

  • Enforce our Terms of Service

  • Protect the security and integrity of the Service

  • Complete backup and disaster recovery processes

Any retained information will be kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes.

5. Backup Systems

Deleted information may temporarily remain in secure system backups.

Backup copies are retained only for disaster recovery purposes and are automatically removed as backup media is rotated according to our internal retention schedule.

Backup data is not restored except as necessary to recover from a system failure.

6. Third-Party Service Providers

Barnacle Bucks relies on trusted third-party service providers to operate the Service.

When your account is deleted, we will remove or anonymize your information from systems under our control. Information held by third-party providers is handled in accordance with their applicable retention and deletion practices.

7. Requests for Data Deletion

If you are unable to delete your account through the application, you may request deletion by contacting us.

To protect your privacy, we may ask you to verify your identity before processing your request.

8. Children's Information

Parents control all child profiles associated with their family account.

When a family account is deleted, child profiles and their associated information are also deleted or anonymized in accordance with this policy.

Parents may also remove individual child profiles without deleting the entire family account.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Data Deletion Policy from time to time.

When material changes are made, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this document.
